Anatoly Khavalkin is back on track in FIA Karting competition in style, on a circuit as demanding as the Swedish one. A fortnight ago, the Parolin Racing driver had made his debut at the Asum Ring during the Champions Of The Future, showing potential. At the weekend just gone, Khavalkin, on the other hand, literally displaced the competition from the first to the last session.

During the qualifying practice, Anatoly had already shown his pace by setting the second fastest time (pole position for Group B) just +0.005sec behind the best overall performance.
From that position, in the five heats between Friday and Saturday, Khavalkin led the provisional classification, winning four out of five heats plus a second place.

Pole position for the final missed only because of the second place in Sunday’s Super Heat, however totally harmless to keep the front row.
During the race, Khavalkin then put into practice what he had learnt in the previous days, recovering immediately from a less than perfect start and battling for the first two laps with the second and third place finishers, eventually securing first position. A race dominated from that point onwards with the fastest laps recorded in the last part of the race confirming the great consistency expressed.

With this victory, Khavalkin is back in the running for the title of European Champion, just four points behind the first position. An incredible result considering Zuera’s absence from the race, which could have weighed on the outcome of the classification. Grand finale expected in Italy at the Franciacorta circuit next month.
